My name is Dan Turner and I'm a human performance specialist with a PhD in Applied Human Physiology and Performance Optimization. I coach, consult and educate around the world. My passion is helping humans optimize their mind and body so that they can think, feel and perform at their best.

For 15 years I have had the honor of coaching and consulting with thousands of extraordinary humans in business, sport and healthcare. I have coached over 310 extreme sport athletes and Olympians to world record wins and unprecedented levels of human achievement. I’ve had the pleasure of supporting business professionals, founders, CEOs, SEALs, Hollywood actors, film producers, musicians, artists, cybersecurity "hackers", professional gamers, writers, therapists, fellow coaches, scientists and a world class chess player.

In 2011 I began my journey coaching various surgeons, primary care physicians, medical students and of course medical residents. Amongst many projects in healthcare, I cofounded a program for Mount Sinai Hospital that leverages science, technology and coaching to serve many of America's next generation of elite neurosurgeons, supporting them to sustain high performance and good health. Applying similar tools, techniques and strategies that I’d used with professional athletes, we found that the program dramatically improved the lives of the medical staff and residents involved. I was honored to learn that after only a couple years the program received multiple awards from Congress of Neurological Surgeons.

In working with residents and medical trainees all around the globe, I’ve come to learn that medicine has long attracted extraordinary and high caliber humans of heroic character who face extremely demanding work schedules, complex relationships and high pressure circumstances. Yet the level of support systems for residents are extremely limited, especially when we compare this to what is provided to elite level athletes. This finding struck me! It made me eager to make a difference for residents - to help them discover their best level of mental, emotional and social performance not just in the hospital but outside of it, in their life. Doctors give their lives to help others - I applaud and admire this. Doctors are the glue that holds humanity together, because without health our world collapses. Doctors deserve the very best, highest quality coaching at their fingertips! And that is why I created, The Resident Hustle.
